A new crisis on Facebook ... The social network does not know where to go.

Since 2018, we've lost faith in the world's largest social network. First, there was the Cambridge Analytica affair. The iconic Facebook accounts were disclosed three years later, due to a Wall Street Journal story.

All of this tainted the platform's reputation, which had been one of the most popular among netizens before to the scandals. And, while they've tried to put these issues behind them in the past, such as the name change from Facebook to Meta, it appears that the social network is still embroiled in some controversy.

What is the reason behind this? Well, thanks to a recent leaked study, we're even more wary of Facebook. This data breach indicates that Facebook has no control over your information, to the point that it doesn't even know where it's kept.

This information comes from a report produced by Facebook's Advertising and Commercial Products team's Privacy Engineers. This stolen paper, which is available on DocumentCloud, shows how Facebook staff are anxious about maintaining control over their customers' data.

To arrange user information on the Internet, new techniques have been implemented all over the world. In countries like India, South Korea, Thailand, and South Africa, tighter data protection regulations have been enacted, requiring platforms to maintain adequate control over the information they keep about its customers.

The purpose of posting this study was obviously to communicate the privacy team's worry about how Facebook plans to comply with these new requirements.

While Meta claims to be working on technological solutions to comply with new data protection requirements, it's hard to believe they'll be able to do so in the near future since they have no knowledge where your data is going right now.
