Starting May 31, 2022, Facebook will remove 5 features from the app

Facebook users got notices that many of their favorite features will be removed. The majority of the tools are connected to site logs. These changes will take effect on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, according to the business.

According to a statement from Meta, the corporation that owns Facebook has announced that five features that were available in both the app and the website would be removed.

Podcasts, nearby friends, weather alerts, location history, and user persistent location tracking are the five capabilities that will be removed.

This is because none of the tools are widely utilized, according to specialist tech publication The Verge.

Four of the five utilities rely on Facebook, which has access to customer data and keeps track of where they use the app.

In the phone's settings, users can still choose how information about them is collected and used.

The Company will continue to monitor and use the Site Services even if they disappear at the end of May. He will share with them additional experiences that have not yet been shared with users.

"Although these services have been removed," Meta spokesperson Emil Vazquez stated in an email that "customers can still select how information about the sites they visit are collected and used directly in the phone's settings rather than the app."

Users will be able to get the location information registered on Facebook until August 1. All data will be destroyed automatically after this date.

The podcast tool has not been particularly popular within the platform, as it will be completely wiped out almost a year after its incorporation. This is due to the fact that it received very little use during the twelve months it could have been.
